Adobe’s Pro Quality Premiere Video Editor Is Free for iPhones
October 6, 2025
Adobe is bringing a free “pro quality” version of Premiere to iPhone, so YouTubers, filmmakers, music video editors, commercial producers and other creators can edit video on the fly. While tools like ByteDance’s CapCut and Meta’s Edits have become popular for mobile, Adobe’s move marks a major productivity step for those aspiring to more than social video, particularly through integration with the entire Adobe tools ecosystem. The Adobe Premiere mobile app features what Adobe promises are “studio-quality audio enhancements, perfectly timed AI sound effects, precision editing on a multi-track timeline, AI content generation and more.”
Adobe Rush, a free all-in-one video creation tool used to capture, edit and share polished-looking videos quickly on social channels, was retired as of September 30.
With “some of the best bits” from Rush and Premiere Pro, Premiere for iPhone features “multi-track timelines, generative AI, and studio-quality audio tools,” TechRadar writes.
ZDNet says those familiar with Premiere Pro for desktop should find transitioning to mobile a seamless experience, “with the same multi-track timeline, colors, and editing tools just available right from your phone screen.”
Adobe claims it has made smartphone editing intuitive and speedy, despite the smaller screen, where users will be able to trim, layer, add “crystal clear voiceovers and perfectly timed AI sound effects” and automatic captions and more, with frame-accurate precision, in formats up to and including 4K HDR, according to a news announcement.
The free version “offers in-app purchases,” but there is no obligation to buy. “The only time you pay is when you need more storage or generative AI credits,” Adobe explains on a product page.
Editing competitors Final Cut Pro (Apple) and DaVinci Resolve (Blackmagic Design) had been available for the iPad, but neither has made it to the iPhone. No word on whether Premiere for iPhone will also work on the iPad (as did Adobe Rush). LumaFusion may give Premiere some competition in the free iPhone editing app space, but lacks Adobe’s ecosystem of supporting apps.
Adobe promises “millions of free creative assets,” including stickers, images, Adobe fonts, and royalty-free music tracks. And Premiere for iPhone one-tap exports “to every major social platform, from TikTok and YouTube Shorts to Instagram and beyond, including the ability to resize your video for each platform,” Adobe notes.
