Pluto Intros Limited-Time ‘NFL Super Bowl Classics’ Channel
January 23, 2024
Paramount Global’s Pluto TV free streaming television service is adding a pop-up channel for NFL fans for the weeks leading up to Super Bowl LVIII on CBS. The new programming joins an NFL channel that Pluto TV launched in 2019 to showcase game coverage with news, replays and original shows. Airing 24/7 through February 21, the “NFL Super Bowl Classics” channel will feature past Super Bowl games and specials. Viewers can find the channel on the Pluto TV app or connected TV devices in the Sports category. Game replays will stream sequentially with specials and docuseries interspersed.
In addition to complete game replays, the NFL Super Bowl Classics channel will program NFL Films content and specials highlighting Super Bowls past. Shows include “History of the Super Bowl,” which takes a look back at the Super Bowl’s creation and evolution as well as retrospectives like “Greatest Super Bowl Finishes,” “Ranking Every Super Bowl MVP Performance” and “Craziest Super Bowl Plays of All Time.”
Pluto TV EVP of Programming Amy Kuessner said in a press release that the new, limited-window Pluto channel “allows fans to discover and relive those unforgettable games and moments in one place — all for free.”
“CBS Sports will offer multiplatform coverage of Super Bowl LVIII from Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 11, featuring CBS Sports’ presentation on CBS and Paramount+, and a slime-filled telecast exclusively on Nickelodeon,” writes TV Technology, adding that “it will mark the first time that CBS has offered a 4K HDR feed of the Super Bowl.”
On Yahoo Finance, Zacks Equity Research ranked Paramount Global stock “hold” based on “a strong portfolio of sports content, which is expected to drive top-line growth in the near term,” explaining that through the company’s streaming platforms — Paramount+, Pluto TV, BET+, Noggin and others — Paramount Global “is set to stream a pipeline of sports content, including EA Sports Super Cup Final, Barclays Women’s Super League competition, and more.”
