Sling TV Launches a $20 per Month Sling Select Skinny Plan
August 28, 2025
Sling TV has carved a niche for itself as a flexible purveyor of affordable streaming options. Now it is launching the $20 per month Sling Select, anchored with preselected channels FOX News, National Geographic, GRIT, NFL Network, FX, FS1, MeTV, Game Show Network, Heroes & Icons, Lifetime Movie Network and Vice, as well as specific 4K content across FOX and FS1. In select markets, Sling Select will also make local broadcasters ABC, NBC and FOX available for an additional $5 per month for markets that offer one or two of the channels and $10 per month for markets with all three.
The basic $20 Select bundle “includes thousands of free streaming movies, the ability to stream to three devices at once, and 50 hours of free cloud DVR storage,” reports ZDNet, calling it a “starter service” to rival “low-end live-TV” services Frndly TV and Philo.
In a news release, Sling positions Select as “the best of news, sports and entertainment starting at just $19.99.”
Sling TV “has many ways to watch online that suit your lifestyle,” Variety writes of the Dish Network subsidiary, calling it “one of the best and most affordable ways to watch online.”
Variety runs down Sling’s tentpole menus: Sling Orange, which “comes with over 30 networks, like ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, Disney Channel, FreeForm, MotorTrend and others,” and Sling Blue “with more than 40 networks, including FOX, NBC and ABC (all in select markets), as well as Bravo, Cartoon Network, Discovery Channel, E!, Fox Sports, FX, Fox News, MSNBC, National Geographic, SYFY, TLC, USA Network and more.”
Each is priced at $46 per month. Earlier this month Sling launched three new configurations available for Orange or Blue: a $5 Day Pass, $10 Weekend Pass and $15 Week Pass.
Sling has also since 2023 offered Sling Freestream, a free, ad-supported TV (FAST) service with “over 200 free channels and more than 40,000 on-demand titles. Other such FAST services include Pluto TV, Tubi, The Roku Channel and Freevee,” explains ZDNet.
