Adobe Integrates Photoshop, Acrobat, Express with ChatGPT

Adobe launched its popular creative and productivity apps Photoshop, Adobe Express and Acrobat for ChatGPT this week, enabling users to edit images, animate elements and modify PDFs by simply asking the chatbot. “Now hundreds of millions of people can edit with Photoshop simply by using their own words, right inside a platform that’s already part of their day-to-day,” said Adobe President of Digital Media David Wadhwani. Photoshop, Express and Acrobat for ChatGPT are currently free for ChatGPT users, available via desktop, web and iOS. Adobe Express for ChatGPT has Android support, which is coming soon for Acrobat and Photoshop.

The new apps mark “Adobe’s ongoing innovation in conversational experiences powered by agentic AI and the Model Context Protocol (MCP),” explains the news release. Earlier this year, the company introduced Acrobat Studio, which transforms “documents into interactive, AI-powered workspaces where people can ask questions, get insights, and easily create standout content from their PDFs.”

Adobe also launched AI Assistants for Photoshop and Adobe Express and previewed an upcoming AI Assistant for Adobe Firefly.

According to the release, Adobe apps for ChatGPT enable the following:

  • Easily edit and uplevel images with Adobe Photoshop: Adjust a specific part of an image, fine-tune image settings like brightness, contrast and exposure, and apply creative effects like Glitch and Glow — all while preserving the quality of the image.
  • Create and personalize designs with Adobe Express: Browse Adobe Express’ extensive library of professional designs to find the best one for any moment, fill in the text, replace images, animate designs and iterate on edits — all directly inside the chat and without needing to switch to another app — to create standout content for any occasion.
  • Transform and organize documents with Adobe Acrobat: Edit PDFs directly in the chat, extract text or tables, organize and merge multiple files, compress files and convert them to PDF while keeping formatting and quality intact. Acrobat for ChatGPT also enables people to easily redact sensitive details.

“If at any point you don’t feel like struggling with ChatGPT, you get an option to continue working inside Adobe’s apps to finish the job yourself or use features that are not available within ChatGPT,” reports TechCrunch.

Canva, Expedia, Figma and Spotify are among the third-party apps OpenAI has recently begun supporting. While more companies consider aligning with the increasingly popular chatbot (including Disney), “the challenge for companies will be getting people to use their app instead of a rival’s inside ChatGPT,” suggests TechCrunch.

“For instance, you can use both Canva and Photoshop to edit images with the chatbot, but if you don’t use either of these apps, you might not have a preference.”
