Roku and Aurzen Launch D1R Cube Portable Smart Projector
September 19, 2025
Roku has partnered with German projector maker Aurzen on the first smart projector that runs on the Roku OS. The Aurzen Roku TV Smart Projector D1R Cube can display a native 1080p image with 330 ANSI lumens brightness sized from 40 to 150 diagonal inches with the projector placed 3.6 to 10.8 feet from the screen. The device is currently available from Amazon for $250. The D1R Cube can display indoors or outdoors on a screen or a wall. The Roku OS capabilities include voice control and one-click access to premium streaming channels including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, YouTube and Apple TV.
“This isn’t necessarily a pro-grade projector, which usually come with more than 2,000 ANSI lumens of brightness, capable of cutting through a substantial amount of ambient light and projecting a huge HD 4K image on a living-room wall,” reports StreamTV Insider, adding that “if you want a reasonably priced gadget that will make home movie night outdoors easy and fun, it seems to fit the bill.”
Technical specs detailed on an Aurzen product page explain the device can accept 4K input for those who want to view from an HDMI-connected gaming device or streaming stick (though the final output, while slightly improved, will be downscaled to 1080p).
The built-in Roku OS offers access to top streaming channels in addition to the Roku Channel and “access to thousands of movies, TV shows, and live channels,” Roku writes in an announcement. Wi-Fi (2.4G/5G) compatibility that allows “easy access to Roku wireless speakers, soundbars, and subwoofers for a full home theater experience” are also part of the package.
The D1R Cube’s integration with the Roku ecosystem means it “can be alternatively controlled by the Roku mobile app,” StreamTV Insider points out, adding that “like most Roku gadgets, the smart projector is also [Apple] AirPlay compatible.”
Bluetooth 5.2 enables headphone mode pairing for someone who wants to watch while others are sleeping or enjoy viewing without distractions.
Features also include auto-focus and keystone correction as well as two built-in 5W speakers with Dolby Audio and smart home voice control working with Apple HomeKit, Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant.
“For just $250, the Roku D1R portable projector isn’t a bad deal if you’re a fan of the Roku ecosystem and are in the market for a budget portable projector for casual barbeques or camping trips,” suggests Tom’s Guide.
