Hanson Robotics — which develops robot products and artificial intelligence technology to serve consumer, medical and entertainment markets — is currently looking to fill two positions: robotics product manager and software product manager. The company is seeking a robotics product manager to lead product development and manage hardware, arts and software teams. ROBOTICS PRODUCT MANAGER
Hanson Robotics brings robots to life. Our robot products and AI serve consumer, medical, and entertainment markets, and enjoy world renown for breakthroughs in these fields. We seek an experienced product manager to lead our robotics product development, managing our hardware, arts, and software teams, in coordination with our executive team. Together we will achieve the next wave in revolutionary artificial lifeforms.

Required:

  • A degree in a related field (character animation, AI, robotics, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, physics, e.e. and/or mathematics, or equivalent — exceptional candidates may have achieved expertise in other ways).
  • At least two years experience developing related product. At least three years managing the development of commercially-released product.
  • Awareness, experience, and/or proficiency in the following: product development, character, story, cinema, sci-fi, sculpture, animatronics, mechatronics, CAD, robotics, product design, manufacturing, motion control, AI.
  • Very strong organization, creativity, and people skills are required, with ability for agile thinking and coordinating individuals from diverse disciplinary and cultural backgrounds.
  • We also need good skills for documentation and technical writing.

Desired:

  • Ph.D. in a related field. We favor candidates with previous experience as a lead creative manager on major commercial product and/or noted research projects with strong results.
  • We prefer some background in character animation, interactive characters, and/or narrative (storytelling) such as cinema or videogames, and some familiarity with artificial intelligence.
  • Also some demonstrated talent in creative writing, visual arts, and/or mathematics would help.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ideation and planning from the perspectives of market needs and user-experience, for both short-term product and long-term research.
  • Coordination of internal resources and third parties/vendors for successful execution of projects.
  • Budgeting for milestones and deliverables, for successful product deployment on a schedule.
  • Development of project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Development and maintenance of detailed project plans to track progress.
  • Use of appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
  • Measurement of project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
  • Performance of risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Maintenance of comprehensive project documentation.

Salary: Dependent upon experience and qualifications.

Location: Hong Kong (at least 2/3 of the time will be on site).
