CES: Sennheiser Touts Its New Wireless Momentum Earbuds

Sennheiser has updated its flagship Momentum True Wireless earbuds, adding support for Qualcomm’s aptX audio tech. The company also debuted a Momentum Sport edition that tracks heart rate and body temperature. The Momentum True Wireless 4 promises “unparalleled sound,” combining Sennheiser’s audio expertise with Qualcomm’s S5 Sound Gen 2 platform and Snapdragon Sound Technology with aptX for lossless sound and ultra-low latency. Boasting 7.5 hours of continuous listening, the new buds come in black copper, metallic silver, and graphite for $300. The more rugged Momentum Sport with biometric features lists for $330. Samsung Unveils Its Latest Folding Phones, Earbuds, Watch

Samsung believes foldable phones will play a key role in the future of mobile, and the company has unveiled two high-end models, available later this month. The $1,800 Galaxy Z Fold4 becomes the equivalent of a small tablet, opening like a book to a 7.6-inch diagonal internal display with a 6.2-inch outer screen. The $1,000 Galaxy Z Flip4 has a main display measuring 6.7 inches when opened vertically. It closes to about half the size of the average smartphone, with a mini exterior screen on which text messages and alerts can be viewed. Apple, Huawei Test Demand for New Phones in Tough Market

With the coronavirus in full force, Apple is one of many companies finding it challenging to predict consumer demand, even as it readies the release of its low-price iPhone model and 5G-enabled iPhones. Apple closed factories in China and its Silicon Valley headquarters as well as stores in Europe, impacting iPhone sales, which peaked in 2015. The new model was scheduled to debut this month but might be delayed; 5G phones are expected to unveil in September. Meanwhile, Huawei is also testing the demand for new flagship phones. CTA: Tech Sales to Reach New High of $401 Billion in 2019

The Consumer Technology Association forecast that U.S. consumer technology sales will grow 2.2 percent to $401 billion in 2019, due to AI-enabled devices, streaming services, and in-vehicle and other technologies. Amazon Testing Wearable That Recognizes Your Emotions

Amazon is working on a new wearable, codenamed Dylan, that reportedly can discern human emotions. The voice-activated gadget, developed by Amazon in collaboration with Lab126 and the Alexa voice software team, is worn on the wrist and is meant to address health and wellness. Lab126 previously worked with Amazon to build its Fire phone and Echo speaker. According to sources, the wearable includes microphones that pair with software and work with a smartphone app to glean the user’s emotional state via the sound of his/her voice.
