Meta Connect just wrapped after showcasing the company’s latest offerings in XR, Meta AI wearables, and more. The long-awaited reveal of the Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses confirmed they are the first Meta glasses with a built-in high-resolution HUD color screen and use an EMG wristband for controls. Meta’s high-performance sports eyewear got an upgrade with the Oakley Meta Vanguard, offering Garmin and Strava integration and video recording in 3K Ultra HD. The Quest VR headset’s new beta feature, Hyperscape, was previewed, turning real-world spaces into virtual worlds. Also, the Quest now features a Horizon TV entertainment hub for streaming. CES: Sennheiser Touts Its New Wireless Momentum Earbuds

Sennheiser has updated its flagship Momentum True Wireless earbuds, adding support for Qualcomm’s aptX audio tech. The company also debuted a Momentum Sport edition that tracks heart rate and body temperature. The Momentum True Wireless 4 promises “unparalleled sound,” combining Sennheiser’s audio expertise with Qualcomm’s S5 Sound Gen 2 platform and Snapdragon Sound Technology with aptX for lossless sound and ultra-low latency. Boasting 7.5 hours of continuous listening, the new buds come in black copper, metallic silver, and graphite for $300. The more rugged Momentum Sport with biometric features lists for $330. Fitbit to Launch First Real Smartwatch With Focus on Fitness

Fitbit will debut its first true smartwatch, the $300 Ionic, in October. This new gadget, however, is focused on the company’s core competency — fitness — although it still offers typical smartwatch functionalities, including music, mobile payments and push notifications. Since Fitbit views health and fitness as the killer app, the Ionic offers an expanded range of health-oriented functions. Fitbit co-founder/chief executive James Park said the decision to take this tack was because he saw that consumers have been confused about the purpose of smartwatches. Apple Places Emphasis on Fitness with Series 2 Smartwatch

Two years since its initial launch, the Apple Watch has shifted its focus “from a stylish jack-of-all-trades fashion accessory to a personal trainer” with a new emphasis on sports and fitness, explains The Wall Street Journal. The Apple Watch Series 2, announced last week, is water resistant to 50 meters and features a heart rate sensor and a fitness app with 12 workouts. A new partnership with Nike offers “sports-themed watches along with GPS capability that helps the device track hikes, runs and bicycle rides,” notes WSJ.
