Google Making AI Search and Coding Smarter with Gemini 3

Google announced the availability of Gemini 3 for select subscribers, with a broader release planned for the coming weeks. The tech giant’s latest AI model will be available via the Gemini app, AI Mode and AI Overviews search tools, and Google’s enterprise products. The model arrives nearly eight months after the launch of Gemini 2.5 as the company looks to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. According to CEO Sundar Pichai, Gemini 3 is the company’s “most intelligent model, that combines all of Gemini’s capabilities together so you can bring any idea to life.” Pichai also announced the Google Antigravity agent platform, that enables developers to code “at a higher, task-oriented level.”

“AI Overviews now have 2 billion users every month,” Pichai noted in a Google Blog post. “The Gemini app surpasses 650 million users per month, more than 70 percent of our Cloud customers use our AI, 13 million developers have built with our generative models, and that is just a snippet of the impact we’re seeing.”

Meanwhile, “OpenAI said in August that ChatGPT hit 700 million weekly users,” reports CNBC.

“Pichai added that the newest model is ‘built to grasp depth and nuance,’ and said Gemini 3 is also ‘much better at figuring out the context and intent behind your request, so you get what you need with less prompting,’” adds CNBC. “Google’s other AI models may still be used for simpler tasks, the company said.”

Computerworld explains that the much anticipated “release brings new agentic capabilities for coding, workflow automation, and search, raising questions about how quickly businesses can adopt these tools and what impact they may have on existing IT operations.”

“The update introduces a generative UI that can build custom visual layouts in response to prompts, allowing Gemini to present answers in interactive, application-like formats,” per Computerworld.

Google is bringing Gemini to the enterprise, emphasizing the new version’s availability in Gemini Enterprise and Vertex AI. Businesses and developers can now access:

  • State-of-the-art reasoning and multimodality: Gemini 3 uses multimodal understanding and state-of-the-art reasoning to analyze text, video, and files all at once. Applications can range from analyzing X-rays and MRI scans to assist in faster diagnostics; to automatically generate transcripts and metadata for podcast content; or to analyzing streams of machine logs to anticipate equipment failure before it happens.
  • Powerful agentic coding and front-end creation: Gemini 3 is our most powerful agentic and vibe-coding model yet for transforming application development and design. With Gemini 3, enterprises can rapidly prototype full front-end interfaces with a single prompt and leverage agentic coding to quickly move from prototype to production.
  • Advanced tool use and planning: Gemini 3 enables advanced reasoning with large sets of tools, facilitating long-running tasks across your enterprise systems and data. Businesses can now leverage Gemini 3 to execute tasks like financial planning, supply chain adjustments, and contract evaluation.

Google also unveiled its new agent platform titled Google Antigravity, which “is available in public preview at no charge, with generous rate limits on Gemini 3 Pro usage,” explains the announcement. “Antigravity is our first product that brings four key tenets of collaborative development together: trust, autonomy, feedback, and self-improvement.”

VentureBeat reports Google Antigravity “introduces agent-first architecture for asynchronous, verifiable coding workflows,” pointing out that it “aims to evolve the IDE toward an agent-first future with browser control capabilities, asynchronous interaction patterns, and an agent-first product design.”
