8-inch Galaxy Note Tablet to Headline Mobile World Congress

Samsung will officially release its 8-inch Galaxy Note tablet at Mobile World Congress, according to reports from Korea’s iNews24. The tablet will look similar to previous Galaxy Tab designs and will “come in 3G and Wi-Fi models with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, a 1280 x 800 display, 5-megapixel back camera, and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera,” according to previous leaks, reports The Verge.

Samsung’s head of mobile JK Shin says the tablet will serve as the showpiece of Mobile World Congress, which occurs in late February. The Galaxy Note 10.1 filled this role in last year’s show.

Shin’s announcement that the tablet will serve as the highlight of the show seems to confirm suspicions that the rumored 1080p Galaxy S IV and a larger version of the Galaxy Note II will not make appearances at this year’s show, notes The Verge.

“Seeming as the Korean news outfit also got word on the S III mini from Samsung’s mobile chief before anything was official, we’ve got no reason to doubt this scoop,” adds Engadget. “If this addition to the Note range is the mysterious GT-N5100 we saw benchmarked recently, it could be packing a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor.”
