Samsung’s 2026 Galaxy Z TriFold Screen Opens to 10 Inches

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Z TriFold, which unfolds twice to present a seamless 10-inch screen suitable for mobile productivity and cinematic viewing. Measuring just 3.9 mm at its thinnest point, it’s a fairly heavy lift for a smartphone at 0.68 pounds (about the same as a can of soup) and measures 6.26 inches high by 2.9 inches wide and a mere half-inch thick when folded. That’s much lighter than a laptop, and provides an extra inch of height and two inches of width to a tablet of that weight, making it a viable option for business travelers. The device is expected to be available in Korea next week, starting at $2,450 for 16GB RAM/512GB storage, followed by launches in additional markets in 2026.

The phone will reportedly cost between $2,800 and $3,000 for the base model when it arrives in the U.S. in the new year. China, Taiwan, Singapore and the UAE were other regions mentioned in Samsung’s announcement.

The Galaxy Z TriFold doesn’t skimp on flagship-level phone features, boasting the custom Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy built for on-device AI that Samsung is using for all its new premium phones. It has a 200MP main camera and both the cover and main screens feature 10MP front-facing cameras.

The phone features the biggest battery Samsung has ever provided in a foldable phone — a 45 W super-fast charging, 5,600 mAh three-cell system balanced across each of the three panels built for what Samsung calls “all-day endurance.”

The QXGA+ Full HD Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen offers 2,160 x 1,584 pixels (269 ppi) with a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and brightness of up to 2,600 nits on the cover display and 1,600 nits on the unfurled main screen.

“Based on the detailed specs Samsung delivered, this sounds and looks like one remarkable, bleeding-edge device,” TechRadar assesses.

CNET explains that “the Z TriFold has two different-sized hinges” for a “smoother, more stable fold despite varying weight and components across the device,” with the center panel being the heaviest.

“The titanium hinge housing ‘resists wear over time,’” CNET adds, noting that “the phone’s Advanced Armor Aluminum frame should also help with durability, while preventing the screens from touching when folded shut.”

According to Samsung, it can even withstand up to 30 minutes in shallow water when new (though “not advised for beach or pool use”).

“It sounds like an engineering marvel,” enthuses TechRadar, musing that “the only thing that might be missing is a kickstand.”
