Amazon MGM Studios Offering AWS Cloud-Based Avid Tools
June 23, 2025
Avid is deploying its popular Media Composer and Avid NEXIS tools at Amazon MGM Studios via the cloud using Amazon Web Services (AWS). The integration will enable the studio’s customers to use Avid’s editing and storage solutions via the cloud in a way that fits their specific production needs. Avid has been collaborating with Amazon MGM Studios for the past three years, and at the NAB 2025 show expanded the partnership to include the Avid on AWS production framework, offering studios, broadcasters, and streaming services cloud access to Avid’s post-production solutions on AWS.
The deal sees Avid and Amazon MGM Studios “driving a cloud-first vision for the industry that enhances global collaboration,” according to TV Technology, which says the integration of Avid tools in the AWS cloud “empowers distributed creative teams, accelerating turnaround times while cutting complexity through flexible, software-defined workflows.”
The idea is that unlike the traditional on-premises post-production models, which require heavy upfront investment, “Avid on AWS can deliver enterprise-class security, compliance, and seamless scaling, reducing infrastructure complexity and cutting operational costs by as much as 40 percent,” Avid explained in an NAB press release.
Deployment time can be reduced by as much as 60 percent as a result of using Avid’s AWS cloud solution, which supports automated workflows and makes it easy for global workers to join a production team, easing staffing shortages and cutting down on commute time for local workers.
“Today, through the Studio’s own offering with AWS, we can deploy Avid NEXIS to our productions around the world in minutes, which helps us ensure we have best-in-class tools to support our productions,” Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video Technology VP Raf Soltanovich said in TV Technology.
“The collaboration is part of Amazon MGM Studios’ multi-year vision to transform global production and post-production workflows with powerful, scalable cloud-native solutions,” reports Sports Video Group News, adding that the deployment “demonstrates the impact of Avid’s open and integrated cloud workflows, providing a blueprint for future studios seeking to modernize content creation while meeting the creative demands of global production teams.”
