Amazon and Google Team on High-Speed Multi-Cloud Service
December 2, 2025
Google has signed on to provide collaborative multi-cloud networking with Amazon using its new “AWS Interconnect – multicloud,” now in preview. Amazon says the new collaboration will simplify multi-cloud networking via managed, private, on-demand access to cross-cloud connectivity. The jointly engineered solution leverages Google’s Cross-Cloud Interconnect technology. The idea is “to enable customers to easily build enterprise-grade applications that span both Google Cloud and AWS environments,” Amazon explains, pointing out that the adoption of multi-cloud applications is rapidly accelerating, driven at least in part by the rise in use of AI.
“The initiative will enable customers to establish private, high-speed links between the two companies’ computing platforms in minutes instead of weeks,” Reuters reports.

It does this in part by introducing “a new open specification for network interoperability” that accelerates multi-cloud use, according to a joint blog post announcing the project.
The joint multi-cloud solution “reimagines multi-cloud connectivity by moving away from physical infrastructure management toward a managed, cloud-native experience,” the companies note.
“Salesforce, a long-time AWS partner and customer, was revealed as one of the day-one users of the new offering,” writes ITPro, noting the SaaS company’s SVP of Software Engineering Jim Ostrognai says the service “accelerates [its] customers’ ability to ground their AI and analytics in trusted data, regardless of where it resides.”
AWS Interconnect – multicloud enables customers to easily interconnect AWS networking services such as Transit Gateway, Cloud WAN, and VPC to other cloud service providers (CSPs), Amazon says on the service’s website. Meanwhile, Google Multicloud “provides a secure, high bandwidth, managed service connecting Google Cloud directly to third-party cloud providers: Alibaba Cloud, AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud.”
In a Google Cloud blog post, the company says “over 50 percent of the Fortune 500 [are] currently using the Cross-Cloud Network, and this collaboration provides a significant boost.”
