Alexa+ for iOS and Android Now Available for Amazon Music
November 7, 2025
Amazon’s generative AI voice assistant Alexa+ is coming to the Amazon Music mobile app for iOS and Android for customers across all subscription tiers in Alexa+ Early Access. Alexa+ was announced in February at Amazon’s Devices & Services event, and began rolling out in early access in the spring. It is reported to now have more than a million users. Customers were able to get early access by registering for it on the Amazon website or purchasing a compatible product. Adding generative AI to Amazon Music is seen as a competitive move following Spotify’s October integration with OpenAI’s popular ChatGPT.
“The AI assistant aims to enhance your music streaming experience, letting you create specific playlists and answering your nuanced music requests” and also “acts as an in-app music expert,” reports TechRadar.

In a news post, Amazon describes it as “talking to a knowledgeable friend about music,” bringing nuance and understanding to conversations about music, “from simple queries to the complicated and obscure.” Customers can ask about genres, artist influences and discographies and even ask questions like “What’s this song about?”
Alexa+ can also help in those moments when you’re trying to find that earbug song you can’t quite name and also accommodates specific requests, like “Can you recommend new music that would make me seem cool to my 13-year-old daughter without trying too hard?” or “What is that song that play during the opening to ‘The Sopranos,’?” Amazon explains.
TechRadar calls it “an AI DJ, playlist curator, and music encyclopedia all rolled into one.”
Amazon says personalized playlists have reached “an entirely new level with Alexa+,” which can craft hours of music around a prompt as specific as “make a playlist of 2010’s hits that keep me moving fast, and start with a track from Nicki Minaj,” or as general as “create a playlist for driving along the Pacific Coast Highway at sunset.”
Machine learning is certainly raising the ante for music enjoyment, with TechRadar writing that after trying the Spotify app for ChatGPT, “now AI knows my music taste better than I do.”
“The company reported that Amazon Music listeners who have tried the feature are exploring songs three times more with Alexa+ than with the original assistant, and those seeking recommendations are listening to nearly 70 percent more music,” writes TechCrunch.
