New Reasoning Model Improves Smarts of OpenAI Operator

OpenAI has upgraded its autonomous web browsing agent Operator to the new reasoning model OpenAI o3 from the prior GPT-4o multimodal LLM engine. The update is being released globally in research preview this month for those who subscribe to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Pro for $200 per month. Operator serves OpenAI’s “computer-using agent” (CUA), a model trained to interact with graphical interfaces that uses the Web to perform tasks for people. “Using its own browser, it can look at a webpage, and interact with it much like a human would by typing, clicking, scrolling and more,” OpenAI explains. OpenAI Operator Agent Available to ChatGPT Pro Subscribers

OpenAI has launched Operator, a semi-autonomous AI agent that uses a proprietary web browser to execute tasks like planning a vacation using Tripadvisor or booking restaurant reservations through OpenTable. “It can look at a webpage and interact with it by typing, clicking and scrolling,” explains OpenAI. Operator is powered by a new model called Computer-Using Agent (CUA), and is available in research preview to ChatGPT Pro subscribers in the U.S. Combining GPT-4o’s computer vision capabilities with advanced reasoning, CUA is trained to interact with graphical user interfaces (GUIs) — parsing menus, clicking buttons and reading screen text. New Initiatives Signal Advancements in Quantum Computing

Two major steps forward for large-scale quantum computing just took place. Physicists from the MIT-Harvard Center for Ultracold Atoms (CUA) and elsewhere mastered the programmable quantum simulator, which can operate with 256 quantum bits (“qubits”). The company ColdQuanta also successfully created a 100-qubit quantum processor by cooling atoms down to “near absolute zero” and then controlling them with lasers.
