Bluesky Rolls Out Check Certification for Authentic Accounts

Bluesky is adding account verification in the form of an “easily recognizable blue check.” But when it comes to individual users, the privilege has to be earned, not requested or paid for. “Bluesky will proactively verify authentic and notable accounts and display a blue check next to their names,” the Jack Dorsey-founded microblogging social platform announced. Select independent organizations are able to “verify accounts directly” using Trusted Verifiers, but Bluesky will review those as well. Cloudflare Joins CAI, Adds C2PA Image Authenticity Protocol

Cloudflare is making it easier to assess the authenticity of online images by adopting the Content Credentials system advanced by Adobe and embraced by many others. Images hosted using Cloudflare now integrate Content Credentials, ensuring metadata remains intact. The platform tracks ownership and subsequent modifications, including whether artificial intelligence was used to edit the images. With touchpoints to an estimated 20 percent of Internet traffic, connectivity firm Cloudflare substantively expands the reach of the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), founded in 2019. Disney Creates a Search Engine That Filters Pirated Results

Disney has secured a patent for a new search engine that will not highlight sites featuring pirated content in the search results. The search engine filters the results based on “authenticity,” so that illicit content will be more difficult to find. Disney and other companies have been unsatisfied with Google’s efforts to hide pirated sites. Disney’s new search technology also goes a step further by making the authentic trademark holder’s page rank higher than product reviews or Wikipedia entries.
