Samsung Debuts Industry’s First Perplexity TV App for Search
October 23, 2025
Samsung — the number one television brand worldwide — has teamed with AI search firm Perplexity to bring an AI app to all 2025 Samsung TVs. The app comes with a free 12-month subscription to Perplexity Pro, normally $20 per month, aiming to elevate the TV to its place among the smartest devices in the house. And those that own 2024 or 2023 Samsung TVs won’t be left out, with the Perplexity AI app to be added via an OS upgrade before the end of the year. Samsung is the first to deliver this standalone Perplexity TV app, which enhances its own Vision AI companion.
The integration is aimed at “redefining how Samsung owners interact with their TVs,” Samsung Electronics Senior Director and Head of New Business Development Dan Glassman said in an announcement.

“This new app will turn your TV into more than just a screen,” TechRadar writes, suggesting the app has the potential to be “a super-smart, go-to resource for everything you need.” Citing the company’s own description of Perplexity as “an answer engine,” TechRadar says it is “designed to scour credible sources in real time to get you accurate answers.”
After the Perplexity TV app answers a question, “it will suggest additional questions for you to ask, which makes it very easy to keep the conversation going,” TechRadar notes.
The deal is a major coup for the AI startup, which was launched in 2022 and as of this month claims 30 million active users, per a recent interview with Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas.
“You’re sprawled on the couch, watching the latest stream of your favorite show. Why not plan your next vacation while you’re at it?,” CNET writes, describing a use case for the new TV app.
Navigate to the Perplexity TV App via the Apps Tab on the TV, or using the Samsung Vision AI companion, Samsung’s announcement explains. You can also “hit the AI button on your remote” to access Vision AI and ask “questions by speaking into the built-in microphone on the remote and TV,” notes CNET. It is also accessible via an on-screen keyboard or attached keyboard.
