TikTok for Artists: New Analytics Platform Gets Official Launch

ByteDance-owned TikTok is officially launching its TikTok for Artists music insights tool two months after reports surfaced that the service was testing the resource in select countries. Billed as an “all-in-one” analytics platform, the company says TikTok for Artists provides detailed data about the performance of an artist’s music and posts on TikTok, as well as insights into how the community is engaging with the performer’s content. In addition to providing actionable marketing support, the tool is designed to help artists boost fan engagement and inform content creation. TikTok is also launching a new Pre-Release tool designed to help artists promote upcoming material.

The Pre-Release feature allows fans to save upcoming titles to their libraries on Apple Music or Spotify where they will then immediately populate on release.

Metrics available through TikTok for Artists include “the number of views, posts, and creator engagements per song, along with similar insights into post performance,” TechCrunch writes, adding that “other insights include information about an artist’s followers, such as their age, language, and gender.”

“TikTok plays a big part in driving music trends and viral songs, so it makes sense for the company to introduce a dedicated space to help artists better promote their content and drive fan engagement,” TechCrunch explains. The new features “could help artists expand their reach and grow their audience.”

The impact is not limited to current artists. “TikTok has boosted the careers of numerous musicians, thanks to their songs — both new and old — going viral,” Fast Company reports, citing a recent example: “Connie Francis’s 1962 hit ‘Pretty Little Baby’, which is currently inescapable across For You pages.”

TikTok for Artists requires a certified TikTok Artist Account. Once the account is set up and verified, artists are also able to provide account access to the analytics tool to their teams and to label teams, TikTok details in a newsroom post.

Music Business Worldwide says “the feature is similar to analytics services from streaming platforms like Spotify for Artists and SoundCloud for Artists.
