China’s Manus AI has unveiled a text-to-video generator it says can transform “prompts into complete stories — structured, sequenced, and ready to watch. With a single prompt, Manus plans each scene, crafts the visuals, and animates your vision,” the company announced last week. Manus generated buzz in March for its agentic approach to AI, and now it is putting that autonomous technology to work on generative AI, promising story generation within minutes. Los Angeles-based AI startup Moonvalley has released a video generator purpose-built for entertainment and advertising. Called Marey, its creators say it was designed with the “specifications and tastes” of filmmakers and studios in mind and trained exclusively on owned or fully licensed source data to protect users from lawsuits. Asteria, a partner in the venture, owns a large documentary library through its subsidiary XTR. Ten months after its preview, OpenAI has officially released a Sora video model called Sora Turbo. Described as “hyperrealistic,” Sora Turbo generates clips of 10 to 20 seconds from text or image inputs. It outputs video in widescreen, vertical or square aspect ratios at resolutions from 480p to 1080p. The new product is being made available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers ($20 and $200 per month, respectively) but is not yet included with ChatGPT Team, Enterprise, or Edu plans, or available to minors.
