Roku has partnered with German projector maker Aurzen on the first smart projector that runs on the Roku OS. The Aurzen Roku TV Smart Projector D1R Cube can display a native 1080p image with 330 ANSI lumens brightness sized from 40 to 150 diagonal inches with the projector placed 3.6 to 10.8 feet from the screen. The device is currently available from Amazon for $250. The D1R Cube can display indoors or outdoors on a screen or a wall. The Roku OS capabilities include voice control and one-click access to premium streaming channels including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, YouTube and Apple TV. Optoma has announced the Photon Go, a tiny ultra short-throw laser projector that throws a 100-inch image from a distance of just 9.8 inches. Releasing in April, the portable device is “designed to bring big-screen entertainment just about anywhere,” the company says, emphasizing the device’s 10 x 6 x 2.5-inch size and 3.8-pound weight — notable because UST projects are not typically very portable. Featuring RGB triple laser technology for vibrant colors and nuanced contrast, the Photon Go “can transform any wall into a screen,” according to the Taiwanese manufacturer. Projector company Valerion debuted its highly anticipated VisionMaster Max at CES 2025. Valerion says the $4,000 4K triple-laser projector is the first home unit to use the professional-grade OpticFlex Lens System with optical zoom, vertical lens shift and dynamic iris, projecting images from 40 inches to 300 inches (a massive 25 feet). The Max delivers 3,000 ISO lumens and a 15,000:1 contrast ratio, while all entries in the VisionMaster series feature 110 percent coverage of the Rec. 2020 color space and enhanced black level (EBL).
