CES 2013: DISH Takes on Broadcasters, Simplifies Mobile TV

CES 2013: Tobii Takes Eye Tracking Gaze to the Next Level

Swedish developer Tobii Technology unveiled Tobii REX at CES this week, which the company describes as the first gaze interaction computer peripheral to be made available for the consumer market. Google’s new “send to TV” feature is starting to pop up on a collection of new TVs and devices from companies like Sony, LG, Panasonic and Bang & Olufsen. The feature turns a consumer’s Android device into a YouTube remote for the big screen, and also allows users to push videos from devices to Google-equipped TVs. CES 2013: Samsung Launches Ultra HDTVs as Part of New Lineup

Samsung is previewing 85-inch and 110-inch Ultra HD LED TVs; a new flagship Smart TV, the F8000 LED with quad-core processor; and a 55-inch OLED TV with Multi-View feature. CES 2013: Sharp Rolls Out IGZO Ultra HD Pro Monitors

Energy efficiency, sharper HD imagery and increased screen-touch sensitivity. Who wouldn’t want all that? Sharp is betting that everyone does. The company is showcasing tablets, TVs and smartphones that use Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide (IGZO) technology. CES 2013: UltraViolet Supporters Choose Dolby Digital Plus

Dolby revealed that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will encode movies and TV programs in the UltraViolet Common File Format using Dolby Digital Plus. According to Dolby, in addition to new UltraViolet releases, there are also plans to go back to offer Dolby Digital Plus with certain UltraViolet titles that have already been made available. Chinese manufacturer Huawei has been on our radar since rumors began buzzing about its long-awaited Windows Phone 8 handsets and a possible 5-inch smartphone/tablet hybrid announcement. Liquid Image introduced two interesting Wi-Fi-enabled products during CES Unveiled – a mountable GoPro competitor called the Ego Mini and the Apex HD+ snow goggle with integrated full HD camera, both CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards honorees. Teamed with the free Liquid Image app (iOS and Android), the cameras can stream live view via Wi-Fi, enable viewing of recorded photos and videos, or activate remote control features.
