The ONAGOfly drone fits in the palm of your hand, but it comes with built-in features that are comparable with bigger and more expensive drones. The $259 flying camera system captures 1080p HD video and has smile-recognition technology and auto-follow technology to help operators capture the perfect shot. As far as safety, the ONAGOfly has obstacle avoidance sensors and can withstand wind speeds of up to 3.3 m/s. The drone is so small that it doesn’t even need to be registered with the FAA.
The smart nano drone weighs only 0.3 lbs. The FAA only requires registration for drones weighing 0.55 lbs or more, reports TechCrunch. The ONAGOfly’s size also comes with other advantages. It can take flight by simply tossing it in the air and it can land in the user’s hand.
Users control the drone from a smartphone using a Wi-Fi connection. The connection works up to 66 feet away and it also enables peer-to-peer live streaming straight from the sky. It does not generate its own hotspot like the Parrot Bebop drone.
ONAGOfly was available to early adopters for $199 through its Indiegogo campaign. The price recently increased to $259. The campaign has raised more than $2.8 million. The drones will start shipping later this month.
