M-GO Launches Beta of Streaming Service for Multiple Devices

M-GO promises to be the “people friendliest” rent/buy movie service the Internet has to offer. It’s backed by Technicolor and DreamWorks Animation and is ready to stream movies through browsers and to connected devices preloaded with its apps. And it really is friendly: “M-GO promises that if you’re looking for a movie it doesn’t offer, it will search other stores to find it for you,” writes Engadget.

Launched in public beta just prior to CES, the service builds profiles of content for up to 5 users per account, then provides suggestions according to interests.

The interface groups content according to genres and categories such as “New Releases,” “Featured,” “M-GO Picks,” “Deals,” and “Your Library.” Content is often available “the same day as the DVD release for many movies or the day after programs air for most network TV shows,” notes the company’s press release.

“To make things even easier for consumers, the company has partnered with the world’s leading consumer electronics makers for M-GO to be available as a preloaded service on the hottest new smart devices from Intel, Samsung and Vizio — with new partnerships to be brought to market in 2013 with LG Electronics and RCA,” explains the release. “To get started, consumers simply need to open a Web browser through Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer or Firefox — and type in www.mgo.com. M-GO is also available as a free download from the Google Play Android app store.”

M-GO also supports the digital locker UltraViolet, which allows consumers to digitally access content they’ve already purchased. And it’s made licensing deals with NBCUniversal, Paramount Pictures, Relativity Media, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Bros. Digital Distribution.
